Mary Larson (Chair) called the meeting to order at 12:03 pm 
Approval of January Minutes: 
Nicole moved to approve; Michele seconded; all approved


Research Week Talk:

  • Rebecca Sharpless, author of Cooking in Other Women’s Kitchens: Domestic Workers in the South, 1865-1960, is the speaker for research week
  • Talk will be 2/21 at 3:00 pm in the Peggy V. Helmerich Browsing Room in the OSU Library
  • WFC members will be going to lunch with Rebecca at the Rancher’s Club at 1:00 pm on 2/21
  • Rebecca is Associate Professor of History at Texas Christian University
  • Mary sent a notification of the event to the Provost, Deans, O’Colly, Stillwater Newspress, etc.
  • There will be a book signing that the campus bookstore will be running
  • Flyers for the event are available for distribution
  • Dr. McKeever’s office is funding publicity, refreshments and honorarium
  • There will be on ad run in the O’Colly on the Thursday and Monday before the event
  • The talk is on the research week schedule
  • Sarah Ramsey is catering the event with southern foods


Research Awards Reception:

  • Michele made a program for the reception; will change the names to alphabetical order
  • Reception will be held on 2/24 at 3:30 pm in the Willard Hall Living Room
  • Discussed who will bring refreshments


Report from Faculty Council:

  • Barbara reported on our speaker for Research Week and our Awards Reception to faculty council


Other Business:

  • Tulsa members will be back in 208 for March meeting
  • Stillwater members will most likely be back in the room in the Spears School of Business
  • There will be an awards reception on April 19th, during the Graduate College Research Week and all graduate WFC award winners are invited to attend
  • Discussed child care in Stillwater and Tulsa
  • Amanda mentioned the possibility of having a child care center funded by student fees, with students being able to use it for free and it being largely subsidized by faculty who pay regular price
